About the Journal

The Annual is the oldest periodical of Sofia University, it was first published in 1905, and plays an important role in the academic life of the University. It serves as an authoritative tribune for the authors, enabling them to familiarise the academic community with their research and achievements. Since 1977, the Faculty of History has been publishing its own edition of the Annual, which is written by established scholars from Bulgaria and abroad, as well as young researchers presenting the results of their first research. Among the contributors are Prof. Alexander Foll, Acad. Vasil Gyuzelev, Prof. Nikolay Genchev, Prof. Krumka Sharova, Prof. Georgi Bakalov, Prof. Milcho Lalkov, Prof. Tsvetana Georgieva and many others.

In modern times, the journal's editorial board gives priority to a wide range of historical topics of a discursive nature, research based on a variety of methods and approaches, using a wide range of sources and documents. Materials from young scientists are encouraged and published in the Debuts section. The Annual provides the opportunity to publish opinions and reviews presented in the Reviews section.

The Editorial board calls on the authors to familiarize themselves with the requirements for publication in the journal and strictly comply with them. Author's copyright is protected under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Submitting original drafts for Vol. 108

The Editorial board of the Annual of Sofia University - Faculty of History announces the acceptance of academic articles, studies and reviews for its new volume, vol. 108. According to the adopted rules, which you can read in detail on the journal's website, the volume of manuscripts is unlimited. We ask that you strictly adhere to the requirements for citing and acknowledging the archival sources and literature used.

GSU - IF, vol. 73 contains studies that chronologically cover the time from the 15th-16th centuries and the 20th century, with summaries in French and English. B. Tsvetkova examines falconry in the Nikopol and Vidin provinces in the fifteenth-sixteenth centuries on the basis of a wealth of data extracted from Ottoman records. Iv. Ilchev discusses the relations between England and Bulgaria in the period January-April 1915 in connection with the Dardanelles operation. P. Petkov examines the little-studied relations between the USA and Bulgaria at the time of the First World War, and in particular in 1917-1918. Lalkov analyses the little-known problems of the Turkish workers' trade union movement 1945-1975. Lyubenova offers the reader the correspondence between the prominent historians prof. Vasil Zlatarski and prof. Petar Nikov from the period 1906 - 1930. Petkova discusses the development of bibliographic literature in Bulgaria, as well as book studies and scientific information. Hr. Stefanov traces the changes in the Radical Party in Bulgaria from 1934 to 1937.
